Weekly News Roundup: Aug 3 - Aug 9, 2026

This is a backfill for 3–9 August 2026. The offers below have ended. I have kept the dates and conditions so you can see what changed that week without mistaking an old promotion for a current one.
Flybuys added a smaller August transfer bonus
A separate Flybuys and Velocity offer, reported by Point Hacks on 3 August, ran from 3 to 31 August 2026. A member's first eligible manual transfer in that period earned 250 bonus Flybuys points and 250 bonus Velocity Points, on top of the normal transfer. The minimum was 1,000 Flybuys points, which converted to 500 Velocity Points.
A member who completed their first ever eligible auto transfer instead earned 500 bonus Flybuys points and 500 bonus Velocity Points, provided auto transfer stayed on until the end of August. Only the first qualifying path counted. The accounts had to stay linked, and the offer could not be combined with another offer. Flybuys explains the normal transfer process, but the dated Point Hacks report and its reproduced terms establish this expired August promotion.
KrisShop opened an Australian store
Point Hacks reported on 4 August that Singapore Airlines had opened a KrisShop Australia store. It let Australian shoppers pay in dollars or KrisFlyer miles and use local delivery. Eligible cash purchases could earn KrisFlyer miles. Point Hacks also reported one non-flight Elite Mile per A$1 on eligible spending, subject to KrisFlyer status caps. KrisShop's status-credit rules confirm the rate and limits.
KrisShop ran a launch miles promotion starting 4 August 2026. That promotion has expired. Its current published terms and the dated report differ on the end date, so I have not treated the current page as proof of the original closing date or earn calculation. The lasting change was a local way to earn or use KrisFlyer miles. As with any points purchase, compare the cash price and the value of the miles before using a balance.
Jetstar announced a cabin-bag change for future trips
On 5 August, Jetstar announced that its new carry-on rules would apply to Jetstar Airways flights departing from 2 February 2027. Each booking would include one bag up to 40 × 30 × 20 cm under the seat. A larger overhead bag, up to 56 × 36 × 23 cm, would require a paid Priority Carry-on option, which also included early boarding. Jetstar said existing bookings for travel after the change would receive the option at no extra cost. Group bookings and Jetstar Japan flights were excluded.
The change matters when comparing the full cost of a points trip on Jetstar. Its launch prices for Priority Carry-on started at $25 one way on selected flights and could vary. Jetstar's quoted examples included bookings paid only with Qantas Points; other payment methods could add a payment fee. Check the bag and payment conditions for the actual itinerary.
