Our 'everyday spend' category consists of 5 sub-categories: supermarkets, department stores, petrol stations, dining and utilities. Below is a list of examples of merchants included in these 5 categories:
- Supermarkets include stores such as Woolworths, Coles, IGA, Harris Farm and ALDI
- Department stores include stores such as Kmart, Target, Big W, David Jones and Myer
- Petrol stations include stores such as 7-Eleven, Shell, Ampol, Caltex and BP

How does the Complimentary International Travel Insurance work and am I eligible for it?
You can obtain written confirmation of eligibility for cover for your overseas journey from the issuer of the insurance, AWP Australia Pty Ltd ABN 52 097 227 177 AFSL 245631, trading as Allianz Global Assistance (AGA), under a binder from the insurer, Allianz Australia Insurance Limited, based on the answers you give AGA, by applying online at: checkyourcover.com.au/westpac. If you provide AGA with incorrect answers to the questions we ask you, you may not be eligible for cover under the group policy issued to Westpac.
What do the complimentary insurances cover?
International Travel Insurance(see policy for details)
Access to up to 6 months' complimentary cover for International Travel Insurance when you meet the eligibility criteria as set out in the Credit Card Complimentary Insurance Policy including prepaying $500 of your travel costs to your eligible card and holding a return overseas ticket before departing Australia, (see policy document for full eligibility criteria, terms, conditions, and exclusions).
Overseas Transit Accident Insurance
Overseas Transit Accident Insurance covers against specified accidental death or injury when sustained overseas while riding, boarding or alighting as a passenger in a plane, bus, train or shorthaul ferry when you have purchased the tickets for the entire trip using your Credit Card before you leave (terms, conditions, exclusions and eligibility criteria apply).

Bonus Qantas or Velocity Points Promotion Altitude Platinum: Offer commenced 27th November 2025. To be eligible for bonus Qantas or Velocity Points, you must apply and be approved for a new Altitude Qantas Platinum or Altitude Velocity Platinum credit card before the offer is withdrawn. You will receive an initial 70,000 bonus points if you spend $4k or more on eligible purchases within 90 days from card approval. These will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks of meeting this spend criteria. In your second year, spend a minimum of $4k on eligible purchases within 90 days of your card opened date anniversary, and you'll earn an additional 30,000 bonus points. These additional points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks of meeting the spend criteria. If you do not meet the minimum spend in the first year, you forfeit the bonus points for the first year only, however you are still eligible for bonus points in the subsequent year if you meet the minimum spend in the subsequent year during the promotional period. Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Earth Classic, Earth Platinum, Earth Platinum Plus, Earth Black, Altitude Classic, Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 24 months, are not eligible for this offer. Qantas Points or Velocity Points earned during a statement cycle are added to your Qantas or Velocity Points balance on a monthly basis. Eligible purchases do not include interest, fees and charges, cash or ATM cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, gambling transactions, a purchase from or payment to a local, state or federal government or government related agency, BPAY or similar transactions (such as Post Billpay), refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account. Credit Card Product Switches, upgrades or Westpac group staff are ineligible for this offer. This promotion may be varied or withdrawn at any time and is not available in conjunction with any other promotion.
Existing customers only - Reduced First year Card Fee for Altitude Qantas or Velocity Platinum: Offer commenced 27th November 2025. The discounted first year Card Fee of $99 is available for existing Westpac customers when you apply and are approved for a new Altitude Qantas Platinum or Altitude Velocity Platinum card before the offer is withdrawn. After the first year, the Card Fee reverts to $175, and will be debited to your card account on the 12-month anniversary of the Card Fee date and annually thereafter. A $75 annual Rewards Program Fee still applies for Altitude Velocity and Altitude Qantas if you choose these programs. This promotion may be varied or withdrawn at any time and is not available in conjunction with any other promotion.

Rewards Points: The earning and redemption of Altitude Points, Velocity Points and Qantas Points are subject to the Pdf File Altitude Terms and Conditions (PDF 117KB). Purchases that are not eligible to earn Rewards Points are set out in the Pdf File Altitude Terms and Conditions (PDF 117KB). You do not receive points if you have not paid the Minimum Payment Due in full and on time and in other circumstances. Points earnt for Pdf File PartPay (PDF 96KB) Purchases are based on the full value of the purchase, and not on each instalment amount. Qantas and Velocity Points earned during a statement cycle are added to your respective Points balance on a monthly basis.
~If you choose to make any payment in any category using an intermediary service (such as Afterpay, PayPal or similar services), these transactions will be categorised as 'all other purchases'. We classify transactions using information provided to us by the card scheme (Visa or Mastercard), which tells us about the main type of business conducted by the Merchant.
5. Additional cardholder: An additional credit card can be issued on the primary cardholder’s account to any nominated person 16 years or over. All transactions using the additional credit card will be the responsibility of the primary cardholder. All Altitude, Velocity or Qantas Points remain the benefit of the primary cardholder. No additional cardholders allowed on Flex Card.
2. Interest free period is available when you pay the Closing Balance (or the Monthly Payment Balance if you have a Balance Transfer, a SmartPlan or a PartPay Card) in full by the payment due date.
Altitude Velocity or Qantas: In order to earn and redeem points, you must be a member of the relevant Frequent Flyer program. An annual $75 Rewards Program Fee applies for customers who choose this option.
Qantas products and services: Bonus Qantas Points earned on Qantas passenger flights (with a QF flight number) booked directly with Qantas, Qantas Club and Qantas Frequent Flyer memberships, when purchased from Qantas and charged as a domestic transaction only. Excludes Jetstar flights and services. You do not earn bonus points on Qantas Freight, Qantas Business Travel, Jetset Travelworld channels and Qantas Staff Travel, and on any international transactions, whether charged in Australian Dollars and/or in any foreign currency.
Classic Flight Rewards are available on Qantas, Jetstar and partner airlines. Seats are subject to capacity controls, availability is limited, and some flights may not have any Classic Flight Rewards available. Taxes, fees and carrier charges are payable to Qantas (excluding any amounts payable to third parties at the airport) by an Accepted Payment Card in addition to the points required on Classic Flight Reward flights.
